Styling You The Label was incredibly proud and beyond excited to be a part of Brisbane Fashion Month's inaugural size-inclusive group runway show. It was a first for Brisbane and something I've waited a long time to see.
You know my thoughts on the need for the fashion industry to be more inclusive, in may aspects but especially when it comes to catwalk shows. I wrote HERE about how I was overcome with emotion at Australian Fashion Week earlier this year after witnessing the first ever Curve Edit show.
Last year at Brisbane Fashion Month our label did our own diversity in fashion show and an industry chat with two size inclusive Queensland labels, @activetruth and @caprioscaswimwear … this year, those two labels were in the Size Inclusive Runway group show along with @maiocchi_, @orange_sherbet.
For brands who say they can’t get samples on larger sizes for runway shows or campaign photoshoots, please try to do so. Your customer (existing and potential) is not one size or shape. Show us how your designs look on more than one type of body. Changing your mindset on this will help to build fashion shows and events where size diversity is the norm and not the exception. Or is it that you simply don’t want to see us in your clothes?
